Originally used in the RAF’s Nimrod Aircraft.
This RR Spey 250 is used to produce an insanely large volume of wind as well as having the capability of misting massive quantity’s of water.
It would be hard to imagine the amount of smoke that this Concorde engine could produce.
The engine pictured above is mounted on to a lorry, but this is for transportation or static running only. Due to the high level of fuel consumption, the onboard fuel tank gives approx 5 minutes of running (120Ltr), so extended runs would require a fuel bowser nearby.
The engine is started by a separate air producing turbine (APU).
